A Weekend of Art and Design Fairs
Art and design fairs have once again descended upon Manhattan. Beginning with preview day this Thursday, March 8th, and running through the weekend, New Yorkers will find a variety of fairs popping up around the city. Between Independent, The Armory Show, and Collective, there are a variety of options catered to suit every creative interest. The Armory Show, staged on Piers 92 & 94, is an art fair in the most traditional sense, featuring presentations from over 200 participating international galleries, artist commissions and public programs. Independent, being held at Spring Studios in TriBeCa, seeks to reexamine the art fair model, operating more as a collective; part immersive experience, part traditional fair. Independent curators pride themselves on offering new wave material mixed with established work, presented in a custom, open space fostering unique conversations and dynamic interdisciplinary connections. Collective is a design show taking place at Skylight Clarkson North in the lower West Village, with international exhibitors featuring masterworks in design from the 20th and 21st centuries, alongside experimental contemporary pieces by a budding next generation of global talent. There is plenty to do in New York City this coming weekend; the trouble lies in picking where to head first! Please visit the links below for further information on each fair.
