Every spring the international design community descends upon Milan for Salone del Mobile, an annual furniture fair encompassing over 200,000 square metres of Milan’s Rho Fiera fairgrounds. Launched in 1961, this year marks the 58th edition of Salone del Mobile promoting the exchange of Italian exports in furnishing and the creation of an integrated global community of talented minds working in the sphere of interior design.
The largest tradeshow of its kind, Salone del Mobile is considered the global benchmark event for the furniture and design sectors, boasting more than 370,000 attendees from over 188 different countries.
The layout of the fair, which is happening from April 9th to the 14th, is divided into three distinct style categories: Classic, which focuses on the valued craftsmanship and skill within the art of making furniture; Design, highlighting products that reflect ingenuity in function as well as style; and xLux, the section devoted to the contemporary reinterpretation of timeless luxury design.
With countless different design activations taking place throughout the city of Milan over the course of the week, Salone del Mobile and its respective satellite activates are this week’s Minnie Muse ‘must go’ for lovers of design and furnishings.
