The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables Florida brings back the fondest memories. I grew up in Miami in the 1970’s and 80’s and Coral Gables has always been one of the oldest and coolest neighborhoods in South Florida. I used to go to the Venetian Pool as a child – it is a public pool – and I had my rehearsal dinner there when John and I got married, complete with synchronized swimmers the night before my wedding on Valentine's Day 1998.

It is a fantasy/folly of Venice grandeur, constructed from a former rock quarry circa 1924. It is both tacky and fabulous in a 1920s way, which is rare and odd for South Florida, given that it is not reminiscent of the 1970’s or 80’s ‘Scarface’ era, making it both beautiful and timeless. Best of all, the Venetian Pool is still currently used as a local swimming pool, so there is an opportunity for daily splendor just like that provided by the Ruth Gurvich [my must have] tea pot.
