A Very Special Christmas

Compilation Album, 1987

Nothing screams ‘It’s time for the holidays’ like a festive soundtrack. This week’s 'Minnie Muse Must Have' is the first album in the ‘A Very Special Christmas’ series, produced by Jimmy Iovine and released in 1987, with proceeds going to benefit the Special Olympics. This Christmas-themed compilation album, with original cover art by Keith Haring, features a diverse mix of artists singing holiday carols; from The Pointer Sisters’ captivating rendition of ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town’ and Stevie Nicks’ ‘Silent Night’, to Madonna singing ‘Santa Baby’, the Eurythmics's unique recording of ‘Winter Wonderland’ and Run-DMC’s original song ‘Christmas in Hollis’, there are themed melodies for everyone. The initial record was such a success that Haring’s design was adapted for six subsequent albums; the seventh and final record in the series was released in 2009. Music lovers unite and head over to iTunes to download ‘A Very Special Christmas’ just in time for the holidays.
