January 24, 2019

9 Avenue Matignon, 75008 Paris, France

What happens when the most beloved star of French cinema and the most beloved star of 20th century French fashion become friends and frequent collaborators? Creativity ensues between designer and muse, reaping benefits in the form of haute couture. In honor of Catherine Deneuve and Yves Saint Laurent’s undying friendship and 40-year collaboration, Christie’s Paris is offering more then 330 superb designs from the movie star’s prolific personal collection of haute couture.

From Saint Laurent’s iconic Le Smoking tuxedo and Orientalist ensembles of the 70s, 80s and 90s, to the designer’s signature bejeweled leopard print dresses and jewel tone eveningwear, his styles worn by Deneuve came to epitomize modern French elegance of the 20th century. Offered over a live auction and online sale on January 24th, take a hand – or paddle, rather – at owning a piece of fashion history.
