Proenza Schouler Birkenstocks
Summer 2020 Capsule Collection
With their perfected product and its boundless potential for reinvention, the Birkenstock brand is a breeding ground for designer collaboration. The next one stirring our excitement as we head into warmer weather in 2020, is a 6 product capsule collection with New York label Proenza Schouler.
In 2002, Parsons Grads Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez founded Proenza Schouler from what was, at the time, their senior project. In the 18 years since, the brand went on to be recognized by way of 5 different CFDA awards. Specializing in womenswear and accessories, the label has produced an impressive portfolio of unique footwear. As such, the marriage with Birkenstock feels both natural and original.
The shoes honor the classic Birkenstock silhouette in its hyper-casual nature, while also bringing to them a chic urban feel of women’s work wear that inspired the greater Proenza Schouler SS 2020 collection. These specchio leather sandals come in variations of black, white, orange, and silver, and they feature velcro straps and thick outer stitching.
This summer, we may be sporting all kinds of new trends, but we’ll all still be wearing Birkenstocks. Why? The ultra-comfy german sandal is still among our feet’s favorite form of footwear. And now, Proenza Schouler brings their urban cool to the shoe and a fresh design you’ll want to wear until your toes get cold in the autumn breeze. (Socks & ‘Stocks? No judgement here…)
