Rihanna

By Phaidon Press

Rihanna’s self-titled autobiography visualizes the singer’s life through a montage of 1,050 images. Published by Phaidon Press, the 504-page monograph took five years of conceptualization and planning before finally hitting shelves in October 2019. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Rihanna and Phaidon also released several special-edition versions of the singer’s groundbreaking new book, providing shoppers multiple means of entry by which to show their love and adoration for the singer.

The ‘Rihanna: Fenty x Phaidon’ edition, which retails for 175 dollars, is marked by a tabletop bookstand designed by Los Angeles-based design collective, The Haas Brothers. The stand, which resembles two colorful palms serving as structural supports for the weighty title, was inspired by Rihanna’s own tattooed hands.

The ‘Rihanna: Luxury Supreme Edition’ features a larger book, weighing in at 60 pounds, and yet another creative display portal designed by the Haas Brothers. Retailing for $5,500, this edition includes a copy of the book signed by the singer and the design duo, as well as a tabletop stand that emulates dripping gold around the perimeter of the book.

The third and final special-edition release – for the most die-hard Rihannna fans – is dubbed the, ‘Rihanna: Ultra Luxury Supreme Edition.’ Also signed by Rihanna and the Haas Brothers, this version comes with a marble stand clocking in at a commanding 2,000 pounds. Hand carved in Nazare, Portugal from a single piece of Pele de Tigre marble, the pedestal is both a means of displaying the book, and a design object in its own right.

Whether you’re an entry-level fan or a committed follower looking to make Bad Gal Riri a permanent attraction in your living room, any version of Rihanna’s new self-titled autobiography is a definite must have.
