The Ultimate Sneaker Collection
Sotheby’s x Stadium Goods
New York-based auction house Sotheby’s is teaming up with Farfetch-owned, streetwear marketplace Stadium Goods, for its first-ever online auction dedicated to sneakers. Though only one small step for Sotheby’s, which operates hundreds of curated sales annually ranging from fine art and rare wines, to jewelry and vintage automobiles, the Stadium Goods partnership represents an otherwise giant leap for streatwear, underlining the growing, worldwide fascination with collectible footwear and the rising marketability of sneakers as global status symbols.
The sale, dubbed ‘The Ultimate Sneaker Collection,’ involves 100 of the world’s rarest sneaker styles, ranging from the original sample model of Nike’s 1972 Waffle Trainer “Moon Shoe” and an entire suite of Virgil Abloh’s first Off-White x Nike collection “The Ten” – which is currently leading in interest with 5 bids – to limited-edition YEEZY sneakers and various pieces designed by Adidas and Nike in collaboration with athletes and artists.
Sotheby’s and Stadium Goods’ “Ultimate Sneaker” auction is now open for bidding and will remain active until July 23. Visit the link provided to find out more information and to view the sale on the official Sotheby’s website.
