Designer Flow Chart

Fashion

The fashion industry is operating in a constant state of flux. With designers switching houses on a somewhat seasonal basis, keeping track of who is where and when, has become a fulltime job.

In just three years, dozens of creative directors have come and gone through the doors of leading luxury brands, ranging from Louis Vuitton and Dior, to Saint Laurent, Céline and Givenchy. How do we combat this seemingly never-ending state of creative instability? Perhaps designer residencies are the answer. Versus Versace has been working with new creative directors on a somewhat annual basis since 2009, while Helmut Lang adapted this concept for spring/summer 2018 when they taped Hood By Air’s Shayne Oliver. Just this past fall/winter 2018 fashion season, Italian outerwear brand Moncler launched their ‘Genius Project’, comprised of single-season residencies from five leading designers such as Simone Rocha, Hiroshi Fujiwara and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli. Until this disarray subsides, the Minnie Muse Designer Flow Chart is here to make some sense of the fashion industry’s perpetual game of musical chairs!
