World-renowned architects are just as deserving of museums shows as some of history’s greatest painters. Last year, New York’s Museum of Modern Art hosted a Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition marking the 150th anniversary of the late architect’s birth, while most recently, Paris’ Pompidou Center opened a major retrospective honoring the work of Japanese architect, Tadao Ando.

Ando, a previous winner of the prestigious Pritzker prize for architecture, remains a key figure in his field having completed dozens of notable projects throughout his decades-long, and continuing, career. The show’s focus revolves around four major themes present within Ando’s prolific oeuvre – the simplicity of space, the urban challenge, project genesis and dialogue with the past. The exhibition addresses these key features and countless others through the fifty major projects on view, illustrated via drawings, original plans, photographs and architectural maquettes.
