Phoebe Philo’s masterful ability at constructing complete environments is seen season after season in the fluidity of her clothing designs and set curation. Fall/Winter 2015 was no exception, with the rich, earthy hues of her deconstructed, relaxed garments gliding over the checkerboard terracotta tiles lining the show’s runway; an palpable visual dialogue for a collection about contrasts – minimal excess – with particular emphasis on the female figure. Philo’s unique attention to detail was manifested this season in bejeweled broaches, deconstructed duvet coats, hints of animal print, contrasting sticking and ornamental pom-poms. If the understated extravagance of each look wasn’t attention-grabbing enough, the commanding sound of the model’s stacked heels or trademark Céline sneakers stomping on the terracotta tiles was sure to keep your concentration.
