For spring/summer 2008, Miuccia Prada presented a whimsical, Art Nouveau-ish collection full of fairy tale-like prints created in collaboration with Taiwanese-American artist James Jean. The muted, washed-out color pallet and earthy hues of the collection’s silk-printed tunics, ribbed tanks and cardigans were offset by flared, checkered-print trousers and slender dresses. The collection’s accessories were in homage to the hippie movement of the late 60s and early 70s, with bags and shoes made of countless strips of colorful leather and suede bounded together into interlocking fluid lines. In true Prada form, the set design was conceived in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas’ AMO, this season configuring the catwalk in the shape of a cloverleaf, a scene right out of a fashion fairy tale.
