Proto-Conceptual

An art movement that pre-dated and paved the way for Conceptual Art, Pop Art, and Minimal Art premised on the notion that an artist can communicate with the viewer through the power of abstract forms. The term is often used to describe the early work of artists like Yves Klein and Piero Manzoni.
